When a station is on the air with Jelli, they may include advertisement breaks. During the ad breaks, you may just see a Jelli logo or other promotional graphic in the Now Playing section. In some cases, you will hear the same advertisements as the terrestrial radio listeners when listening online on Jelli. in other situations you may enjoy some awesome, but un-”rock”-able and un-”suck”-able tunes or mashups instead of ads.
Remember, even during commercial breaks you can still vote on the music you want to get on the air.
What if I don’t like the song currently on the air?
The currently playing track is handled differently from other tracks on Jelli:
- You can click the “Rocks” and “Sucks” buttons to let the community know what you think of the track that is playing.
- If a track that was rocketed gets full Rocks, the rocketeer receives a bonus rocket (effectively getting his or her rocket back).
- If a track gets full Sucks, it is immediately pulled off the air
- You cannot apply power-ups (a rocket or bomb) to a track that is playing on air
Once a track finishes playing, it becomes eligible for voting and power-ups again.
If you’re not a fan of what’s playing, go to the Now Playing section and hit the “Sucks” button. Your opinion will be registered on the Jelli rockometer, and if enough of the Jelli community agrees with you, the track will be pulled off the air.

What happens to a track when it’s done playing on air?
Once a track finishes playing on air:
- All votes for that track are cleared and it goes back to the bottom of Who’s Next
- All power-ups (rockets, bombs) applied to that track are cleared
- The track will be listed in the station’s History which shows when it played and whether user voted it to full rocks or sucks.
Once a track finishes playing, it becomes eligible for voting and power-ups again.
What is a fast track or featured track?
At certain times during a live FM broadcast, you may see a “mystery” track appear in the carousel at the top of the Who’s Next list. This is a track specially chosen by the FM station to play during their Jelli show, picked from the top songs that listeners have voted up on that station.
At Jelli we call it a “featured track” but it’s up to each FM station to name it for themselves. For example, WCYY Jelli refers to it as the “Fast Track”.
When a featured track comes on the air, the album art will have a special icon on it and you’ll see the station’s logo in the spot where you’d normally see who rocketed up the track.
The normal Rocks / Sucks buttons also change to Hit / Miss buttons so you can tell the station what you think of their featured pick. Note that featured tracks cannot be sucked off the air.
